History
The North Carolina Fossil Club (NCFC), a non profit corporation,
founded in 1977, is a" hobby-based" organization of over 400
members, about half from North Carolina and about half from 16 other
states and world wide. The NCFC was formed to engage in and support the
study, enjoyment and collection of fossils. NCFC is an affiliate of
the North Carolina Museum of Natural of Natural Sciences.
Education and Research
Support
The NCFC financially supports fossil related projects at North
Carolina state museums and colleges, similar programs at other
museums and also student research. In addition to our educational
publications, club members lead student field trips
to local quarries and make presentations at elementary and secondary
schools. Members also regularly present fossil programs to scouting
and civic groups and the club provides fossil displays and speakers
at the annual Aurora Fossil Festival and other similar events.
